The School of Dance at the Amman Institute of Performing Arts (AIPA) offers a comprehensive, structured program for aspiring dancers. It includes three levels to be completed over three years, and is designed to build essential skills and principles, providing students with a strong foundation in contemporary dance.
Each level includes evaluation criteria covering technical proficiency, artistic expression, and choreographic innovation, with continuous assessment, examination classes and a short performance at the end of each semester to track progress and readiness for the next level.
Focusing on spatial awareness, posture, alignment, and breath integration.
Include basic techniques and floor work, emphasizing weight distribution and dynamics.
Encourages creativity and individual expression through guided improvisation and the use of props and imagery.
Intermediate contemporary technique focuses on weight, momentum, and fluidity, along with advanced floor work and isolation of body parts.
Composition and structure introduce choreographic elements and phrase development, along with partnering and contact improvisation.
Collaborative improvisation exercises to enhance communication and connection among students.
Propels dancers to mastery with advanced techniques, acrobatic integration, and exploration of choreographic styles.
Advanced contemporary repertoire includes complex movement sequences, nuanced expression, and study of influential choreographers.
Composition and choreography delve into advanced choreographic elements, performance skills, and studying influential choreographers.
Each academic year is structured into three semesters. The first two semesters consist of 60 hours each, while the summer semester comprises 20 hours. Students are expected to attend three classes per week. Students in the intermediate program must also attend all dance lectures at AIPA.
